fujoshi interlude – recent acquisitions
I return from a brief hiatus with some exciting updates regarding the doujin collection, the project as a whole, and life in general!

First off: I’ve added a small batch of of newly-discovered doujinshi to the cover collection! I will add them here to this post in isolation (below), as I enjoy seeing the gradual buildup with time, but I’ve also put them in and among their bedfellows on the larger archival page. This is an exciting batch for me, because it includes works from several circles that I’ve seen mentioned in reference to the NIGHT HEAD fandom / doujin scene, but had yet to see any art from. In addition, we’re also starting to see another form of doujinshi that isn’t talked about as much: “novels”, which I feel like I can extrapolate to be something equivalent to “fanfiction” in fandom spaces of other language varieties. But I’m not entirely sure! I’d like to read one and find out!

One important update on this subject is that I have finally managed to procure some doujinshi for my actual, physical, collection! I’m planning to discuss these in more depth across future posts, but it’s been a delightful research diversion to explore their themes, storytelling and the artistic prowess of their creators. I’ve only been able to get my hands on a few (given my limited access) but keeping in mind the ratio that were produced, I’ve tried to also keep my eye out for those that are RPF-centric.
my “personal collection” so far :^)

The last piece of news I have is to give fair warning that the pace of things may decrease around here somewhat, owing to my starting a masters course! I am still working away behind the scenes on things, though they will now be somewhat slower – but, in exchange, larger. I’ve been experimenting with different ways I can present my research materials and findings, the results of which I hope to elaborate on soon enough. So, stay tuned!
