edogawa ranpo covers part 3 – the case of the missing poplars!

back in my first post on these shonen tanteidan book covers, I didn’t really have much info on them – but then I got stuck into digging up more info while I’ve been recuperating from a cold (cough). and so, here I present – the remaining covers that I was missing from that first batch of Poplar Publishing editions. which should be the end of it… OR IS IT??? read more to find out!!

I believe these covers are from 1964-1970, though it can be hard to make sure since they appear to have been iconic enough to have gotten reprints (rather than rebranding) for at least a few decades after. this only makes me want to know more about the primary illustrator, shigeru yanase!

I thought that this batch would fill out all of the original 26 novels as listed on the english wikipedia, but… here’s where things get interesting!! stayed tuned to read more in an upcoming post about a peculiar literary loop-de-loop, and maybe – if you’re lucky – see some more covers ;^) in the meantime, here’s the rest of the original 26!

as before, I’ll be adding these to the main gallery page for edogawa ranpo covers, so they can all be seen in one place. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
