edogawa ranpo book covers part 2 – kobunsha!

while I was hunting for the covers from my previous post, I also found a treasure trove of covers from the same series, but a different publisher – in this case, kobunsha! I also found… some fun facts??! read more to find out!! :^O

these covers are a little bit earlier than the previous ones, covering the 1950s thru early 60s, and some of the titles differ between editions. I’m really interested in seeing the comparisons between them, especially as time goes on (kobayashi is the once and future boy detective after all), so I’ve made a page where I’ll be putting all these posts together into one gallery! as far as I am aware, these were (mainly?) illustrated by Kazuo Matsuno, which is super neat – according to that post, he drew 350 out of 400 Shin Seinen covers?! insane!! also, I managed to learn more about the Kobunsha editions from this excellent website, rampo world! I’m super excited to explore it more :^)
